Valiug Quarry – Gneiss Exploitation – Crushed Gneiss for Infrastructure
The new exploitation location of TECHNOCER SRL is situated in Valiug commune, Caraș-Severin county, in an area recognized for its solid mineral resources. This quarry spans an area of 4.8 hectares and is dedicated to the extraction of hard rocks. Crushed gneiss for infrastructure, high-durability gneiss aggregates, metamorphic rock extraction Romania.
Features and Resources:
– Base rock: Gneiss. Gneiss is an extremely resistant metamorphic rock, comparable to granite, being ideal for uses that require hardness and structural stability.
– Utilization potential: The extracted material is excellent for the production of crushed aggregates, crushed stone for roads, foundations, and consolidation elements.
– Strategic location: Situated in the mountainous area of Caraș-Severin county, the location allows for the efficient supply of infrastructure projects in the region.

Why is the Valiug gneiss valuable?
Unlike river aggregates (rounded), crushed gneiss has sharp edges (angular), which gives it a much better self-locking capacity. This means that roads and foundations built with this material will be much more stable and will not “deform” under the weight of traffic.
Products resulting from Gneiss (Văliug Quarry):
– Crushed stone for foundations: Due to its high hardness, crushed gneiss is ideal for road base layers, providing excellent load-bearing capacity.
– Chippings and Splits (for asphalt and concrete): Being a hard rock, resistant to abrasion, small sizes (e.g., 4-8mm, 8-16mm) can be produced for use in asphalt mixtures that must withstand heavy traffic.
– Raw stone for gabions: Gneiss often has a distinct aesthetic appearance (layered or “foliated” texture). Large pieces can be used for filling gabion baskets used in ground consolidations or landscaping.
– Armorstone for consolidations: In mountain areas (such as Văliug), gneiss stone is perfect for dams, river bank protection, or slope consolidation, as it does not disintegrate upon prolonged contact with water.
– Aggregates for high-class concrete: Gneiss is an excellent alternative to crushed granite for producing concrete that requires high compressive strength.
